| Input | Hold steady | Do not substitute |
|---|---|---|
| Residence | Actual address used for the policy | A cheaper ZIP code from another part of New York |
| Pet | Accurate age, species and breed or mix | An example pet from a quoted national average |
| Medical scope | Comparable accident-and-illness protection and desired options | An accident-only quote labeled as equivalent |
| Cost sharing | Deductible basis, percentage and limit recorded together | Matching only the number called deductible |
A quote for a New York City dog is not a controlled comparison with an upstate cat. Nor does moving a slider tell you what the market charges for unchanged coverage. Save each actual offer and label differences that cannot be normalized.
Do not estimate an address effect by changing other inputs at the same time. If the insurer changes product options during the process, record the new design instead of treating the price movement as purely geographic.
